Camavinga’s rise to stardom
Eduardo Camavinga has caught the eye of a whole host of clubs with his performances for Rennes in the last two seasons.
Comfortable playing as a deep-lying or box-to-box midfielder, the teenager is considered one of the world’s hottest prospects and, at 18 years old, has already made 62 top-flight appearances, as well as having received two national caps for France.
However, his current deal with the French club expires in 2022, meaning that the player could be available on a cut-price deal this summer as Rennes look to recoup any sort of fee for their generational talent.
Where will he end up?
Speaking on Don Robbies Youtube channel, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said:
“He is 100% not extending his contract with Rennes. They have to sell the player this summer or they will lose the player for free”
Romano then elaborated on the interested parties, saying that:
“Manchester United, for the last five or six days, have been really serious on the Camavinga deal. They started to open talks with Camavinga’s camp and with people close to Rennes to understand the price. They hope to do a deal for around 30 or 35 million euros, you say it’s crazy but he’s out of contract in one year”.
Speaking on what stage any potential deal is at, he continued:
“Manchester United are in direct contact with people close to the player and close to Rennes, they want to sign him this summer because they know that while waiting for next summer, as a free agent, is a big opportunity in terms of a financial view, but that many clubs will be in the race. We will see if they will make an official bid in the coming days but I think so because they are really serious on this deal”.
However, Romano revealed that the Red Devils may have competition for the Frenchman’s signature, naming PSG as another interested party.
“Also, PSG are keen on Camavinga, they are really interested either for this summer or the next one. At the moment they have other priorities, but PSG are also in the race.”
When asked about other potential interested parties, Romano said:
“Talking about Arsenal, I have been told this summer it is impossible. Spanish clubs are also interested but they are not progressing in talks for Camavinga”.
It seems like a straight shoot-out between Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain for the youngsters signature.
Will the Red Devils get their man?
