It appears that these showings have indeed raised his profile and clubs were watching.
Everton considering Dumfries
One club that will be on the lookout for a right-sided fullback this summer is Everton.
The club used typical centre-back Ben Godfrey in a number of fullback positions under Carlo Ancelotti due to injury woes to the likes of Lucas Digne and Seamus Coleman.
The Irish international is reaching the latter stages of his career and after deciding not to make a move for Djibril Sidibé permanent in 2020, it instead left Coleman and Godfrey to cover the position last year.
Everton are now credited with an interest in the PSV defender who according to coach Roger Schmidt is expected to leave.
Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer revealed that both he and Donyell Malen are not expected to be with the side next season.
“He (Roger Schmidt) doesn’t really expect Malen and Dumfries back,” Timmer said.
Could Dumfries be the man to do the job for Everton next season in their quest for a European qualification spot?
New coach Rafa Benítez will ultimately be the man to decide.
