Explanations for the respective absences of a quartet of players from Liverpool’s latest matchday squad have been forthcoming online this evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s men are of course set to return to action shortly.
The Reds will welcome Southampton to Anfield, for a Premier League showdown.
The clash marks a crucial one for Liverpool, with the soon-to-be dethroned champions in the thick of the battle for European football.
Chelsea’s last-gasp downing of Manchester City this evening dealt a serious blow to the Champions League hopes of Klopp and co., but Spurs’ damaging defeat to Leeds means that Liverpool now hold the upper hand in the race for 6th.
Southampton, on the other hand, have little more than pride to play for on Merseyside, sitting 16th in the Premier League table, but a full 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
Kabak amongst absentees
In turn, Liverpool, for obvious reasons, will be viewed as overwhelming favourites to clinch all three points this evening.
Ahead of the action getting underway, meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp unveiled his latest matchday squad a short time ago.
The German has opted for a strong starting XI, featuring the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.
Most notable when it comes to the hosts’ line-up at Anfield, though, is the pairing at the heart of their backline. Nat Phillips is joined by the inexperienced Rhys Williams, who will take to the pitch for just his 3rd Premier League start of the season versus Southampton.
In turn, question marks immediately circulated surrounding the whereabouts of Ozan Kabak, who has of course impressed since making the move to Merseyside on loan during the January window.
As per Liverpool’s official team announcement, though, the Turk – along with all of James Milner, Naby Keita and Ben Davies – misses out with a ‘minor fitness concern’:

The reliable James Pearce has since cited training ground ‘knocks’ picked up by all four players:
