Ben White’s Brighton stint
Ben White is a product of Brighton’s youth system. However, the 23-year-old has not featured an awful lot for the Seagulls’ senior side.
Instead, White was farmed out on a series of loans, the last of which saw the ball-playing defender seriously impress for Leeds United during their promotion-winning campaign.
Said displays were enough for Graham Potter to hand white a chance in Brighton’s first-team this season.
And the youngster has gone on to grasp at that opportunity with both hands and has already cemented himself as an absolutely integral cog in Brighton’s backline.
Man United, Arsenal & more eyeing Ben White
Despite Brighton’s overall squad not being littered with quality, Graham Potter has his side attempting to play some eye-catching, positive football.
And White, along with players such as Yves Bissouma, has been key to that, with the Poole-born defender great on the ball and more than capable of playing out from the back.
Now, White’s impress form during his first full season at the Amex has seemingly attracted interest from some top clubs.
According to a report from the Sun over the weekend, Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for Ben White, whilst PSG, Manchester United and Arsenal remain interested in the defender.
Brighton, who the Sun claim turned down three bids from Leeds last summer, will demand about £35m for White.
And given his age, potential, his nationality (English) and the fact he has proven himself to be a solid central defender who is very calm in possession, £35m in today’s market does not seem like too much of a high sum, especially for a club like Man United who are clearly in desperate need of a partner for Harry Maguire.
